High Above the Forest: Adventure, Growth, and Connection Among the Treetops

What I took from a summer working where no one is in their element

Legacy

The height and novelty combined with the friendly competition of an arial adventure park are the perfect setting to see people reveal their true selves

There’s something magical about stepping off solid ground and into the treetops. Suspended high above the forest floor, an aerial adventure course offers more than just a physical challenge—it becomes a space for self-discovery, connection, and joy. As a guide, I had the privilege of witnessing guests push beyond their perceived limits, transforming fear into exhilaration and hesitation into triumph. From breathtaking leaps of faith to quiet moments of reflection among the branches, every climb was a journey of growth, courage, and fun in the heart of nature.

Connection: Trusting the Leap

One of the most powerful aspects of the aerial course was the way it fostered connection—not just between people, but between individuals and their own courage. The auto-belay drop was the ultimate test of trust, requiring guests to step off a platform and free-fall before the system safely caught them. Guiding someone through that moment—watching their initial fear give way to laughter and relief—was always inspiring. But beyond the thrill, these experiences created bonds, as strangers cheered each other on and shared in the collective triumph of taking that leap together.

Pushing Beyond Limits

The varied, lush setting of Ramblewild creates a necessary sense of safety and belonging, priming people to be authentic and face fear.

Every obstacle on the course was designed to challenge both body and mind. The suspended kayak, or Skyak, was a favorite among guests—a surreal ride across a vast ravine that blended exhilaration with an almost meditative calm. Conquering these challenges wasn’t just about physical strength; it was about pushing through self-doubt and embracing the unknown. Each day, I saw guests leave not just with tired muscles, but with a newfound confidence that extended far beyond the trees. The course was a proving ground, a place where fear turned into empowerment and where growth was measured in courage, not just skill.
